RCON Setup for AtomicBot

AtomicBot connects to your Rust server using RCON, which stands for Remote Console.

RCON allows AtomicBot to securely communicate with your Rust server, read server activity, and send commands required by enabled bot features.

You do not need to install an RCON program on your computer. AtomicBot only needs the connection information supplied by your game-server provider.

Information Required

To connect your Rust server to AtomicBot, the Bot Owner will need the following:

• Server IP address
• RCON port
• RCON password

Your information may look similar to this:

• Server IP: 123.456.789.10
• RCON Port: 28017
• RCON Password: YourSecurePassword

These example values are not real and should not be entered into your AtomicBot setup.

Important: The regular game port, query port, and RCON port are not necessarily the same. Make sure you provide the port specifically labelled RCON Port.

Keep Your RCON Information Private

Your RCON password provides administrative access to your Rust server.

Never post your RCON password in:

• A public Discord channel
• General chat
• A public support thread
• A wiki article
• A screenshot that will be publicly visible

Only provide your RCON details through an approved private AtomicBot support method.

If you take a screenshot for support, blur or cover the RCON password before posting it publicly.

If you believe your password has been exposed, change it immediately through your server provider's control panel and contact the AtomicBot Owner with the new password.

Finding Your RCON Details on GPORTAL

GPORTAL displays the Rust Console Edition server IP and RCON port in the server control panel.

Step 1: Open Your GPORTAL Server

1. Sign in to your GPORTAL account.
2. Select My Servers.
3. Open the Rust Console Edition server you want to connect to AtomicBot.

Step 2: Find the Server IP

Your server IP can normally be found:

• In the server banner near the top of the control panel
• On the server's Status page

Copy only the IP address.

Example:

123.456.789.10

Do not include http://, https://, or any additional text.


Will need to replace the image path above with the actual location of an uploaded screenshot.

Step 3: Find the RCON Port

The RCON Port is displayed with the server connection information near the top of the GPORTAL panel or on the Status page.

GPORTAL may display several different ports, including:

• Game port
• Query port
• RCON port

AtomicBot requires the one specifically labelled RCON Port.

Step 4: Find or Set the RCON Password

1. Open your server's Basic Settings.
2. Locate the RCON Password setting.
3. Enter or copy the password assigned to RCON.
4. Save the settings if you made any changes.
5. Restart the Rust server if GPORTAL requires a restart.

GPORTAL Checklist

Before sending your details to the AtomicBot Owner, confirm that you have:

• The correct server IP
• The port labelled RCON Port
• The current RCON password
• Saved any changes made in Basic Settings
• Restarted the server if required
• Confirmed that the server is online

Nitrado Rust Console Edition

Important RCON Availability Notice

Nitrado's current Rust Console Edition hosting information states that third-party RCON access is not available.

Nitrado server owners can run commands using the Live Console provided inside the Nitrado server control panel, but the Live Console does not provide AtomicBot with a continuous external RCON connection.

Because AtomicBot requires an external RCON connection, a Nitrado Rust Console Edition server may not currently be compatible with AtomicBot.

Contact the AtomicBot Owner before submitting a Nitrado server setup request. Support can confirm whether a compatible connection method is currently available.


Provider features can change. If Nitrado adds external WebRCON support for Rust Console Edition, this guide will be updated with the required steps.

Sending Your RCON Details

Once you have collected the required information, send the following privately to the AtomicBot Owner:

• Rust server name
• Server provider
• Server IP address
• RCON port
• RCON password
• Discord server name

You can use this template:

Server Name:

Do not paste this information into general chat.

What AtomicBot Uses RCON For

Depending on your AtomicBot plan and enabled features, the RCON connection may be used for:

• Reading Rust server events
• Tracking player connections and sessions
• Displaying player counts
• Processing player linking
• Sending server commands
• Giving kits and shop purchases
• Running teleport features
• Monitoring Rust events
• Publishing kill feeds
• Publishing chat and activity logs
• Processing automated server features
• Managing supported administrator actions

AtomicBot cannot operate correctly when the RCON connection information is missing or incorrect.

Troubleshooting

AtomicBot Cannot Connect

Check the following:

• The Rust server is online
• The server IP is correct
• The RCON port was used instead of the game port
• The RCON password is correct
• There are no spaces before or after the password
• Any recent setting changes were saved
• The server was restarted after changing the RCON password
• Your provider currently allows external WebRCON connections

The RCON Password Was Changed

If you change your RCON password after AtomicBot has been installed, AtomicBot will no longer be able to connect.

Contact the AtomicBot Owner privately and provide the updated password.

Do not post the new password in a public Discord channel.

The Server IP or Port Changed

Some providers may change server connection details after a reinstall, server move, hardware migration, or service change.

If the IP address or RCON port changes, contact AtomicBot support so the server connection can be updated.

• Confirm whether your server provider is supported
